We are a key partner highly active within a citywide Super User Group and work closely with the CareerChat team informing and influencing the personality, content and application of the bot. We have also supported the recruitment of volunteers to stress test an early prototype leading to an enhanced BETA version. The project is highly deserving of this National Award as they are pushing the boundaries of AI technology and human relationships by involving career development and employability professionals in trying out new approaches to careers work, whilst understanding the impact of the current circumstances. Their approach has been inclusive, collaborative and diligent and at all times, they have shown an in-depth understanding of the needs of their partners, the customers and sector. Having personally tested the careers chatbot ‘CiCi’ I do feel this will revolutionise the careers sector allowing careers adviser to spend more time in support customers into their career goals and therefore contributing to the current economical situation.”CiCi – the powerhouse that supports your career – is a marvellous resource for our careers and employability professionals. I feel the team are highly deserving of this National Award because: They began with a seed of an idea and worked diligently and professionally to bring their ideas to life. They have worked closely with us as an Associate Partner throughout with regular meetings and updates. They worked with adults 18+ in Newcastle city (and beyond) to assess their individual needs and tailored the bot accordingly. For example, they added volunteer information to the bot in response to real user needs beyond traditional labour market information. They were the 1st to use capture course information from the ESFA within a bot and are working closely with partners in the local college to add local trustworthy data. They are pushing the boundaries of AI technology and human relationships by involving career development and employability professionals in trying out new approaches to careers work.”

South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College, in the West of England, has worked with the developers of CiCi career chat bot (CareerChat Ltd) for the past seven months, offering them practitioner feedback via superuser forums and the testing of prototypes by our own adult students and staff, on a regular basis. We have been very impressed by the developments team’s ability to integrate our critical feedback at each step, into successive versions of the bot. The resultant product is extremely innovative, evidenced by its speed of screen response, integration of a wide range of local labour market information and having, at its heart, an ability to support end users in a wide range of career decision making needs, in a friendly manner. We feel that that the integration which allows a user free and easy access to a team of local human professional careers advisers across many platforms is particularly good and will provide much needed confidence in the overall process, to a cautious user. We are keen to eventually use the finished product as part of our careers toolkit in a busy college serving over 10,000 adult learners.”

– John Walker Head of Careers and Schools Services, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College

I have been hugely impressed by the work of the CareerChat team. They have worked in partnership with the Education and Employers charity to embed icould videos into the innovative CiCi careers bot. This partnership approach, using stories from people and industries, helps bring labour market intelligence (LMI) alive. The team made is very easy to embed our API into their new architecture. I’m sure CiCi will attract strong interest from a wide range of community organisations, including those supporting young people with their career decisions. This is truly an exciting digital innovation which has significant potential.”
